Marta’s Kitchen @ The Signature, Desa Sri Hartamas

Spanish cuisine is one of the best cuisines in the world. We noticed that there are not many authentic Spanish Restaurant in town. We would say that this is not usually our typical dining choice.

Marta’s Kitchen Paella Tapas is a hidden Spanish gem in Desa Sri Hartamas. This restaurant is actually owned and operated by a Spanish lady named Marta. She serves authentic Spanish foods using an open kitchen concept whereby guests can actually enjoy the “live show” of Paella cooking.

Oh ya! We did spend some time looking for this restaurant as it is not located along the busy street but is well hidden inside the Signature Suites & Residences Kuala Lumpur. Make sure not to miss the residential building when you are turning into the busy area of Desa Sri Hartamas.

Their tapas selection is just so attractive but sadly the two of us could not try everything. So, we decided not to go for the a la carte menu but instead chose their “Tapas for 2” set. This set comes with a Paella, five Tapas and a dessert (Churros). For our drinks, we ordered passion ice tea and their signature drink, Sangria. Their menu is always available at their Facebook page. Check out their Facebook page at Marta’s Kitchen in KL Paella and Tapas.

We were told by the waitress that the Paella (main course) would require about 40 minutes of cooking time. If you are lucky enough, you may have the chance watch Marta personally cooking your Paella in the open kitchen.

Escalibada

Looks oily but is actually not! Get a piece of bread and dip into the olive oil filled with red pepper and onion. You can taste the sweetness of the onion and red pepper. It is really a good appetizer to start off with.

Serrano Ham with Tomato Bread

A super thin slice of Ham on top of tomato bread is just perfect. Their fragrance and taste combine well with one another. The tomato bread actually helps to neutralize the strong taste of the ham. We would not suggest you to eat the ham all by itself as we felt the porky smell was too strong for us.

Potatos Bravas

Squid a la "Romano"

Chicken Mushroom Croquetas

Very crispy on the outside, very creamy on the inside.

They are really very generous with the mushroom.

Finally, our Paella is ready to be served!

Paella Valenciana

Wow! Everything was good and the seafood was so fresh. Every single grain of rice has absorbed the seafood “broth” (prawn, muscle and squid) and chicken “essence”. The sour cream is a good friend of the Paella. It tastes so good together. Slurp~ Slurp~

How can it end without a dessert right?

Churros with Chocolate Dip

We have tried some other Churros in town but found that the texture of this Churros is really different. It is a completely new texture of Churros for me but it is really nice! We couldn’t stop dipping the churros into the chocolate dip as it was not very sweet. In fact, there was light bitter taste in it. No worries ladies, you will not fail your diet plan!

Sangria

Passion Ice Tea

Sangria is a Spanish alcoholic drink which consists of red wine and chopped fruits. The red wine is really smooth with some fruit after-taste at the end. The Passion Ice Tea is definitely very refreshing.

“Tapas for 2” is just nice for 2 persons and it comes in a full-course meal with Tapas (appetizers), Paella (main course) and Churros (dessert) at a reasonable price of RM150 (inclusive of GST). Of course, if you are coming in a bigger group, you can have more choices of Tapas to choose from as you could ordered a bigger set.
